What the lottery itself costs
According to the Department of State instructions for DV-2026, there was no fee to submit a DV-2026 entry. Selectees who are scheduled for an interview pay a visa application fee in person at the embassy or consulate, or pay USCIS when adjusting status. The March 2026 final rule states that DV-2027 entries require a $1 fee, paid in the official process. Details are in DV lottery costs and how to avoid scams.

How to read the guides
Every guide names the program year it describes and lists its sources. Rules change each year, so a guide about DV-2026 may differ from the rules for DV-2027. The editorial policy explains how sources are chosen and how corrections are handled.
A note on look-alike websites
Many websites present themselves as agencies, associations, or official helpers. The Department of State warns that sites ending in .com, .org, or .net are not official and that it does not endorse them. A checklist is in how to check whether a DV lottery website is official.
